While college football had its soft opening on Saturday, we’re still a few days from the season truly getting underway. That means five months are between the start of the year and the College Football Playoff.

But that didn’t stop Sporting News from taking a stab at predicting the four teams that will reach the College Football Playoff and picking the outcomes of those games.

Bill Bender made his final preseason predictions for the four-team playoff, and he included one B1G team in the mix. Here are the four teams he has reaching the semifinals:

  • Rose Bowl: USC vs. Florida State
  • Sugar Bowl: Ohio State vs. Alabama
  • CFP Championship: Alabama vs. USC

As you can see, Bender had the Buckeyes reaching their third playoff in four years but expects they’ll get bounced in the semifinal game by Alabama.

Bender’s article also outlined the potential matchups for bowl games at the end of the 2017 season.
