Spring game? Penn State AD Sandy Barbour uncertain whether football team can host annual event

One of the burning questions surrounding the spring football season is whether or not programs in the B1G will be able to host a traditional spring game later this year. Right now, there’s not a lot of certainty one way or the other.
Speaking with the media on Tuesday, Penn State athletic director Sandy Barbour was asked about the possibility of playing a spring game at some point in the coming months. She didn’t have a definitive answer on the subject.
“It’s too early to tell,” Barbour said in response.
Barbour did confirm that a traditional spring practice season is still on for the Nittany Lions, unless the B1G decided to make some changes. Though she admitted she doesn’t expect that to happen.
Last season, teams across the country had to scrap their spring games because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Some squads got in most of their spring practice season while some had not started. Hopefully, there will be a level playing field across the sport this year.
Penn State finished the 2020 season with a 4-5 record, closing out the year with four straight victories after an 0-5 start.
