Coaches don’t usually like to give too much away during a spring game, but they also want to have a little fun during the scrimmage. That was on full display during Maryland’s spring game on Saturday afternoon.
Maryland’s offense dialed up a trick play and ran it to perfection, resulting in a long touchdown pass in the third quarter of the contest.
A pitch to the Red team’s Challen Faamatau appeared to be stopped pretty quickly by the White team defense, but just before the running back got hit, he heaved the ball downfield to receiver Nick DeGennaro.
DeGennaro was wide open and was able to walk into the end zone untouched for the score. Below is the clip:

It was fun to see the Terrapins open up the playbook a little bit on Saturday and for it to work so well. Maybe it’s a little preview of what we can expect to see during the season when fall rolls around.
Maryland’s spring game will air live on Big Ten Network at 4 p.m. ET, though the game was actually played at 12 p.m. in College Park.
