Steve Pikiell revealed that the B1G contacted him regarding the buzzer beater against Ohio State. Ashbury Park Press’ Jerry Carino reported what the Rutgers coach had to say.
Ohio State’s Tanner Holden hit the game-winning shot as time expired to give the Buckeyes a 67-66 win in Columbus. Bruce Thornton was almost forced out of bounds before getting the ball to Holden. However, photos that came out after the game made it look like Thonton stepped out of bounds.
Pikiell stated that the B1G’s officials admitted to him that mistakes were made.
“I spoke to the Big Ten offices and they acknowledged that mistakes were made,” Rutgers coach Steve Pikiell said via phone late Friday afternoon. “We’re going to move forward to Seton Hall now.”
At the end of the day all Pikiell can do is just get his team focused for Seton Hall. Rutgers and Seton Hall tipoff Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET on FS1.
Grant Bricker covers the B1G for Saturday Tradition. His previous stops include the Williamson Homepage and Nashville Post.
