T.J. Watt takes Steelers’ starting LB spot from five-time Pro Bowl selection

That didn’t take long.
A few days ago, T.J. Watt recorded two sacks in the first quarter of Pittsburgh’s preseason matchup against the Giants. Now, according to reports, the former Badger has been named the Steelers’ starting linebacker for the 2017 season.
Monday, Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that the Steelers plan to start Watt at the outside linebacker spot this year. And who did the rookie replace?
Five-time Pro Bowler and two-time Super Bowl champion James Harrison.
Now that’s turning some heads.
At age 39, Harrison obviously isn’t as effective as he once was. And a role as a rotation or situational guys seems to be a better fit for the aging linebacker. Still, Watt jumping into a starting role so quickly is pretty impressive.
Pittsburgh also plans to star their other first-round draft pick Bud Dupree at the other linebacker position.
Before too long, Watt’s going to be challenging his older brother J.J. for the title as the most feared defender in the NFL.
