Former Auburn linebacker and current SEC Network analyst Takeo Spikes sat down on “SEC Now” to discuss the recent reveal of ESPN’s College Football Power Rankings. Spikes took issue with Ohio State being ranked 3rd, ahead of the likes of Alabama and LSU.

“Errrr! That means it’s wrong,” Spikes said when asked about how the top 5 were ranked. “With Michigan, the tide has shifted, they are clearly No 2. But No. 3 Ohio State, I’m not buying that right now.”

Spikes backed up his claim by talking about how the Buckeyes have yet to announce a quarterback and still have question marks at key spots. Despite Ohio State’s wealth of skill position talent, Spikes said that none of that will matter if there is not a reliable quarterback to throw them the ball.

If he re-ranked the teams, Spikes said he would slide LSU to No. 3, put Alabama at No. 4 and drop Ohio State to No. 5.

“When I look at LSU, you have Jayden Daniels in his second year in the system. He’s going to take bigger chances this season down the field,” Spikes said. “I really look forward to him trying to progress.”
