Talking with FOX’s Joel Klatt, Ohio State RB Trey Sermon credits offensive line for breakout games in B1G Championship, Sugar Bowl

It’s been an outstanding season for Buckeyes running back Trey Sermon. He’s rushed for nearly 900 yards in seven games to go along with four rushing touchdowns. He also broke the Ohio State single-game rushing record in the Big Ten Championship game against Northwestern as he rushed for 331 yards.

On Thursday evening, Sermon sat down and talked with FOX College Football analyst Joel Klatt about his season, specifically about these last two games.

When asked about his Big Ten Title performance against the Wildcats, Sermon said:

“Really, I just got comfortable and in sync with the offensive line. I felt like each week I was getting better and better and more and more comfortable. And by that time, I was able to really just do my job at a really high level. Running behind the offensive line, they made it easy for me. With them moving bodies and me just being in the right place, it just worked out.”

He also assessed his performance in the Sugar Bowl against Clemson and raved about his offensive line:

“It felt great. They were able to move bodies and create those lanes and me just being more and more comfortable, I was just able to find [those lanes].”

Sermon finished up the interview by talking about the National Championship game on Monday against Alabama and how excited the team is:

“We’re very excited. We’ve been through a lot of adversity, I mean we’ve been through a lot as a group, as a program. So, just to make it to the final game, it’s been our goal. It means a lot to us. This matchup is going to be good.”

Kickoff for the National Championship will be on Monday at 8 p.m. ET and it’ll be televised by ESPN.
