Earlier this week, Ohio State quarterback Tate Martell entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal, giving him the opportunity to explore other potential opportunities to continue his college football career.

Martell is taking the opportunity to visit other schools, and appears to be visiting West Virginia on Sunday. The Las Vegas native posted to his Instagram story showing a sign of Morgantown, where West Virginia University is located.

There has been no specific favorite to land Martell, but West Virginia, Miami and Penn State seem to be among the most realistic possibilities.

Martell’s decision to enter his name into the transfer portal comes after former Georgia quarterback Justin Fields announced that he was transferring to Ohio State. While Martell initially said he had no intention of leaving Columbus, he appears to have a change of heart.

Entering his name into the transfer database doesn’t guarantee his departure from Ohio State, but based on his recent actions, it’s likely Martell is out. He’s followed other college football coaches on Twitter, removed “Ohio State” from his Twitter profile and, now, is visiting other schools.

Martell played in six games for the Buckeyes in 2018. He completed 23-of-28 passes for 269 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 128 yards and two scores.
