Taulia Tagovailoa is returning to Maryland for his senior season in 2023.
He announced that decision via the Terps’ official Twitter account on Wednesday morning:
“My goal when coming to Maryland was to help coach Locksley turn this program around,” Tagovailoa wrote in-part. “After winning back-to-back bowl games I believe we have things going in the right direction. But we’re not done yet. I’m not done yet.
“After careful deliberation, I have decided to return for my senior season.”
THE BEST IS AHEAD

Tagovailoa could have pursued NFL opportunities, but will instead return to College Park to help the Terps build on what they have accomplished over the past 2 seasons. This year marked the first time Maryland had made back-to-back bowl games since 2013-14. It hasn’t reached 3 postseasons in a row since 2006-08.
Tagovailoa was a big reason for that success. He threw for more than 3,000 yards again this season and had an 18-to-8 TD-to-INT ratio. He also rushed for a career-high 4 touchdowns this season.
Maryland is 15-11 over the past 2 seasons.
