Taulia Tagovailoa’s status for the Duke’s Mayo Bowl was up in the air. However, news came out Friday that Tagovailoa is expected to play in the bowl game per The Diamondback’s Varun Shankar.

A Maryland spokesperson revealed that both Tagovailoa and backup Billy Edwards Jr. are both expected to play. This is great news for the Terps offense as Tagovailoa will have a chance to end his season with a win. The Maryland offense would definitely miss Tagovailoa’s impact otherwise.

Tagovailoa has 2,787 yards passing with 17 touchdowns through 11 games played this season.

The Terps also have a chance to win back-to-back bowl games. Maryland beat Virginia Tech in the Pinstripe Bowl last season 54-10 at Yankee Stadium. If Maryland can win on Friday, it would be the first time it won at least eight games in a season since 2010.

Maryland and N.C. State kicks off at noon ET on ESPN.
