Taulia Tagovailoa, Maryland come up just short in potential game-tying 2-point try

Purdue pulled out a surprise win on Saturday, taking down Maryland 31-29.
The Terrapins were 3-point favorites going into Saturday’s B1G crossover game, but several mistakes cost Maryland the win. Led by QB Taulia Tagovailoa, the Terrapins missed a two-point conversion with 35 seconds left in the game, sealing the game for the Boilermakers.
A successful 2-point conversion would have forced an overtime situation.

The Terps and Boilermakers went toe-to-toe for all 4 quarters, the leading changing hands several times during the game. After scoring on a short throw from Taulia Tagovailoa to Roman Hemby in the 4th, Maryland had an extra-point try blocked by the Boilermakers. That missed extra point would make the difference for the Terrapins.
After a Purdue TD, Maryland battled back down the field and scored a touchdown with 35 seconds remaining. Trailing by 2, Maryland converted the 2-point try, but it was nullified on a penalty, and the Boilermakers escaped with a 2-point win in the final seconds of the game.
