Team managers, state troopers went to great lengths to make sure Iowa players didn’t go hungry during delays

You probably wonder what teams do during those long weather delays like Iowa and Iowa State experienced on Saturday in Ames. While there are a lot of unknowns as to what goes on in the locker rooms during those times, we do know at least one thing the teams did during those long delays.
They ate.
Following Iowa’s 18-17 win over Iowa State on Saturday — it’s fifth straight in the series — head coach Kirk Ferentz had to thank team managers and state troopers who were in attendance for Saturday’s game. Why? Those individuals scampered around Ames during the weather delay to pick up 60 sandwiches for the players to eat during the break.
Adam Rittenberg tweeted out that Ferentz thanked those who helped provide some food during those delays on Saturday afternoon.

That’s probably an aspect of these delays that not a lot of people think about. But, hey, when you’re delay goes for hours and it’s been awhile since you’ve eaten, hunger starts to creep in.
So now we know at least a little bit of what went on during those breaks in Ames on Saturday.
