Terry McLaurin says Urban Meyer was at the Washington Redskins game as his guest, ‘coaching status’ not involved

On Sunday, the Washington Redskins hosted the Philadelphia Eagles. The Redskins lost the game 37-27, but quarterback Dwayne Haskins and wide receiver Terry McLaurin connected more than just once.
The two connected on one touchdown and McLaurin finished with five catches for 130 yards in total. Who was there to witness it all?
Their former head coach at Ohio State, Urban Meyer.

Why was Meyer there? There have been rumors about Meyer potentially going back to coaching and going away from his current college football analyst position at FOX. Could he be eyeing the open Redskins job?
He certainly could be. However, McLaurin said that Meyer was simply his guest on Sunday:
“Coach Meyer was here to support me, and Dwayne (Haskins),” McLaurin told The Washington Post. “He was in town. He called me last night and he wanted to come support me at the game. He was my guest. It was good to see him again, good to talk to him. … It has nothing to do with his coaching status at all. It was good to just have him support me again.”
Is McLaurin telling the truth here? We’ll obviously never know. But, why can’t a coach stop by and watch two former players play in an NFL game?
Especially when they’re on the same team and are a quarterback and wide receiver — how often does that happen?
Not very often is the answer.
