Braxton Miller caught all three passes thrown his way for 26 yards of production. It’s part of the steady improvement Houston Texans coach Bill O’Brien has seen from the former Ohio State athlete.
“Braxton’s done some good things,” O’Brien told reporters. “I think the thing with Braxton is always going to be health, staying healthy. It’s going to be what does he do for us on special teams, but he’s made a lot of improvements at receiver and it’s a real battle at that position.”
Miller, a former third-round pick entering the third season of a three-year deal, caught 19 passes for 162 yards last season. In his career, he has appeared in 21 games, starting nine.
It’s a small sample, but catching 100 percent of his targets could be the key takeaway from the Thursday preseason game. For his career, Miller has caught slightly under 60 percent (34-of-57) of his targets.
