The Big Ten season so far has been extraordinary and that’s not about to change heading into this week. There’s plenty of reason for intrigue since there are two huge matchups with College Football Playoff implications on the line.

No. 3 Ohio State looks to show No. 9 Indiana that they’re still the kings of the Big Ten while No. 19 Northwestern is trying to prove that they’re for real. The Wildcats will have to go through No. 10 Wisconsin though, who has looked marvelous in both of their games.

The Power Rank’s Ed Feng has released his model’s predictions for this week’s games and here’s his take on what will happen:

  • Wisconsin will beat Northwestern by 15.1 on the road. Northwestern has a 14% chance of beating Wisconsin.
  • Minnesota will beat Purdue by 5.5 at home. Purdue has a 34% chance of beating Minnesota.
  • Penn State will beat Iowa by 1.6 at home. Iowa has a 45% chance of beating Penn State.
  • Nebraska will beat Illinois by 8.6 at home. Illinois has a 26% chance of beating Nebraska.
  • Michigan will beat Rutgers by 14.4 on the road. Rutgers has a 15% chance of beating Michigan.
  • Ohio State will beat Indiana by 23.2 at home. Indiana has a 6% chance of beating Ohio State.

Here’s a quick explainer of how he arrived at those projections:

“The Power Rank uses data and analytics to make accurate predictions for football and March Madness. I developed these methods based on my PhD in applied math from Stanford.”

We’ll have to see if Feng nails some of these or if some of these games are a lot closer than he’s expecting.
