The rich get richer: Michigan State adds one of the top basketball transfers to roster

Michigan State’s basketball team has received more good news this offseason, landing one of the top transfer players on the market on Tuesday.
Former Marquette star Joey Hauser announced on Twitter that he’ll be finishing his career with the Spartans. Both Joey and his brother Sam decided to leave Marquette following the 2018-19 season. Sam has committed to Virginia.
“Proud to announce that I have committed to Michigan State University,” Joey Hauser wrote on Twitter. “Thank you to Coach (Tom) Izzo and his staff for this opportunity. Once again, thank you Marquette University for allowing me to represent them this past season. I can’t wait to take this next step in my college career.”

Hauser spent just one season at Marquette but was one of the top freshman in the Big East. He appeared in all 34 games last season, making 31 starts. He averaged 9.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists while playing just over 29 minutes per game.
Marquette finished last year with a 24-10 record.
Due to NCAA transfer rules, Hauser will have to sit out the 2019-20 season. However, Michigan State can appeal for immediately eligibility.
