Theo Johnson, a native of Windsor, Ontario, is currently in his sophomore season for the Penn State Nittany Lions. Johnson recently opened up on the difficulties of playing in the United States while his family remained in Canada. Unfortunately due to Covid-19 restrictions, Johnson’s family was not able to be in State College for over a year.

“Growing up, that’s all you want to do, is just make your mom proud,” said Johnson.

Johnson’s mother, Amy, was able to attend Penn State’s victory in Week 4 against Central Michigan, a game in which Johnson made 1 catch for 11 yards.

“I dropped him off at school on January 12, 2020, and could not cross the border again until October 2021,” she said.

Johnson was a 2020 4-star recruit out of Holy Names High School in Windsor, Ontario. The sophomore currently has 2 catches for 19 yards in the 2022 season.

Penn State plays host to Minnesota in Week 8.
