The final College Football Playoff rankings have been revealed. Ohio State was No. 1 in the country according to the playoff committee for a few weeks, but got jumped at the last minute by LSU.

Was it right? Should the Buckeyes be No. 1 as opposed to No. 2? Regardless, Ohio State now has to play No. 3 Clemson on Saturday, Dec. 28 in Arizona for the Fiesta Bowl and semifinal of the playoff.

Should Ohio State care too much about being snubbed from the No. 1 spot?

The answer is no. Not only does it still have to beat two really good teams to be crowned national champions regardless, but in the CFP’s history, no No. 1 seed has won the title.

Take a look at the champions:

  • 2014: No. 4 Ohio State
  • 2015: No. 2 Alabama
  • 2016: No. 2 Clemson
  • 2017: No. 4 Alabama
  • 2018: No. 2 Clemson

So, again, does it really matter in the end what number is next to your name?

History has proven what the answer to that question is.
