On Saturday, we learned of the opening betting line for the upcoming national title game between Alabama and Ohio State.
The number started at Alabama -7. However, it appears that we’re already seeing a shift based on early betting. The line has now moved farther in the Crimson Tide’s favor as they now sit as 8.5-point favorites.

Both teams advanced to the national championship game thanks to impressive performances in their games Friday. Alabama kickstarted the day by rolling over Notre Dame and doing so in impressive, yet predictable fashion. It’s the sort of win we’ve become accustomed to seeing with Nick Saban’s squad.
The nightcap of Ohio State-Clemson wasn’t quite so predictable. The Buckeyes avenged last season’s semifinal loss to the Tigers by putting on an offensive show led by quarterback Justin Fields.
Now, the two teams have a 10-day layoff before they meet in Miami for the national championship. There will be plenty of chatter and probably more movement with the money line. There’s also the wild variable that is who will be available and who won’t be because of injury and/or COVID-19 protocol. There’s a lot that could change before we get to kickoff.
This game is scheduled for Jan. 11.
