Justin Fields was selected a little bit later than most had expected. The former Ohio State quarterback was expected to be a Top 10 pick in this year’s NFL Draft, but that wasn’t how it went down on Thursday night.

Fields was picked just outside the Top 10, taken with the No. 11 overall pick by the Chicago Bears. The former Buckeyes QB is excited for his opportunity in the Windy City.

“It was great,” Fields said of the moment his name was called. “Definitely a moment that I’ll remember forever. Glad that I got to celebrate with my family. So glad to be a Chicago Bear.”

Fields was 20-2 as a starter at Ohio State in two seasons, leading the Buckeyes to a pair of B1G titles and College Football Playoff appearances. Last year, he threw for 2,100 yards and 22 touchdowns while also rushing for 383 yards and 5 scores while guiding the Buckeyes to a 7-1 campaign and appearance in the national championship.

When asked what he brings to Chicago, Fields provided a great response.

“They’re going to get a hard worker, a guy that’s going to put himself out there to win every game. A leader on and off the field,” Fields said after being selected. “So I’m just excited and ready to go to work.”

Fields was the first B1G player selected during Thursday night’s first round.
