‘This is a dream job’: Juwan Howard says he’s at Michigan ‘to stay’

Juwan Howard doesn’t have any plans to leave Ann Arbor. The Michigan head coach said that he has no desire to find another job.
On Thursday’s episode of ESPN’s Jalen and Jacoby, Howard said that he’s enjoying his time at his alma mater and doesn’t intend on leaving anytime soon. He called it a “dream job” to be the head coach at Michigan.
“I’m in Ann Arbor to stay, baby,” Howard said. “I love Michigan. I love my job and I’m enjoying it and this experience. I’m also looking forward to growing each and every year and developing these young men to become the best versions of themselves as a student-athlete.
“This is a dream job for me. I think my passion last year showed how much I appreciate being in this position.”
Howard is in his second season at Michigan, and it didn’t take long for the Wolverines to start producing at a high level. This year, U-M won an outright B1G regular season title by finishing league play with a 14-3 mark and earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Because of his time in the NBA, many have speculated that a job opening in the professional ranks might be appealing. Howard says he’s pretty happy to be in Ann Arbor.
“The NBA, it’s a beautiful game. They have great coaches there, amazing talented players, a beautiful brand,” Howard said. “But I enjoyed that experience for 25 years, 19 as a player and six as a coach. I’m going to stay and keep growing with Michigan. Go Blue.”
Michigan is scheduled to play its first round game of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday.
