Hosting the No. 10 Minnesota Golden Gophers (9-1) at Ryan Field on Saturday, the Northwestern Wildcats (2-8) are facing an uphill battle in their search for their first B1G victory of the season.

Bracing the high-thirty-degree temperatures, one young Wildcats fan doesn’t seem to be showing much interest in the on-field product.

ESPN CFB shared some footage on Twitter:

Beginning their season with a 17-7 loss to the Stanford Cardinal on August 31, Northwestern picked up their first victory on September 14, a 30-14 triumph over the UNLV Rebels.

After that, however, it was all downhill for 14-year veteran head coach Pat Fitzgerald’s team. Spanning September 21-November 9, his Wildcats lost seven straight games by an average of 19.2 points.

Northwestern did enter play on Saturday on a one-game win streak after dispatching the UMass Minutemen, 45-6, on November 16.

Scoring just 14.5 points per game, the Wildcats rank 129th among the 130 FBS programs.

One of four quarterbacks to see action, junior Aidan Smith is Northwestern’s leading passer with 760 yards, three touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Receiving the start against the Golden Gophers, Clemson transfer Hunter Johnson – a redshirt sophomore – was hoped to be the team’s answer behind center following the graduation of Clayton Thorson, the program’s all-time leading passer.

Last appearing in a game against the Indiana Hoosiers in Bloomington on November 2, Johnson has completed 50-106 passes for 432 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions entering play vs. Minnesota.

This B1G West battle is currently airing on ABC.
