There’s an endless carousel in college football coaching. Every year, we try to predict which coaches and coordinators will be moving on to bigger and better jobs.
Sports Illustrated writer Bruce Feldman gave us some names to keep an eye on, naming the ’30 hottest names’ to watch this fall. Three of those guys are currently B1G coordinators.
Feldman listed Penn State offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead, Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano and Michigan offensive coordinator Tim Drevno as the most likely to move on to head coaching roles for the 2018 season.
Moorhead is no surprise, as Penn State’s offense improved dramatically upon his arrival last season. He was reportedly a top selection for several programs this past year, but the right job never opened up. If the Nittany Lions offense is as potent as it was a year ago, he’ll definitely be the hottest commodity in football.
Schiano has built one of the best defensive lines in the country at Ohio State and has gathered plenty of attention recently. Drevno might be the sleeper, but if Michigan’s offense can be as effective as it was a season ago, despite losing a ton of talent, he’ll certainly be a name people are talking about.
