Three B1G players have been named semifinalists for the Maxwell Award, which recognizes the collegiate football player of the year.

On Monday, a list of 18 semifinalists was released, which featured those three B1G names, all of which are offensive players. Here were the three players recognized:

  • J.T. Barrett, Ohio State QB
  • Saquon Barkley, Penn State RB
  • Jonathan Taylor, Wisconsin RB

All three of those players are considered to be the B1G’s only representatives in the Heisman Trophy race, as well.

Barrett recently led Ohio State to a thrilling 39-38 win over Penn State, completing 84 percent of his passes for 328 yards and four touchdowns in the contest. He’s posted an incredible 25/1 touchdown-to-interception ratio this year.

At Penn State, Barkley has been an unstoppable force in every phase of the game. He’s the best all-purpose back in college football, accounting for 1,650 total yards and 15 total touchdowns.

Taylor has been the surprise player this season. The freshman running back leads the B1G in rushing yards (1,185) and rushing touchdowns (11). Wisconsin is currently 8-0 on the season.
