Three B1G basketball stars are world champions.
On Sunday morning, USA defeated France 83-81 in the final game to claim the FIBA U19 World Championship. Jaden Ivey, Caleb Furst (both from Purdue) and Jonathan Davis (Wisconsin) were all members of the team. Former Illinois star Adam Miller was also on the squad, but he transferred to LSU following the 2020-21 season.
Ivey was the top performer out of the B1G on Sunday, scoring 16 points, grabbing 4 rebounds and collecting 3 steals in the win. Furst added 4 points and 4 rebounds while Davis had 1 point and collected 1 board for USA.
USA won all seven games it played in the FIBA U19 games. To claim the world title, the squad defeated Turkey, Mali, Australia, Korea, Senegal, Canada and France. The two toughest games for USA came in the final two contests, defeating Canada 92-86 and France 83-81.
All other games were won by double figures.
