Three Ohio State freshmen become latest to shed black stripes

Three more freshmen have earned the right to be called true Buckeyes as of Saturday afternoon.
The tradition of having the black stripe removed from the helmet of Ohio State newcomers goes back to the Urban Meyer era. It is a process all incoming players must go through, even for incoming transfer RB Trey Sermon.
The trio of players who shed their stripes Saturday includes DB Lathan Ransom, OL Josh Fryar, and RB Miyan Williams. Ransom was a four-star safety and the top-rated defensive back of Ohio State’s 2020 recruiting class. Fryar and Williams were both three-star recruits.
It is good to see the young Buckeyes beginning to impress in practice and earn the trust of the coaching staff and their teammates. Hopefully, their contributions will show through on the field in 2020.
