Tim Brando breaks down criteria for the ‘Pure Playoff Privileged’ during Paul Finebaum appearance

Tim Brando was fired up during his Tuesday evening appearance on the Paul Finebaum Show.
The analyst for FOX Sports has recently taken aim at some of the rankings for the College Football Playoff. It started when the Committee kept Baylor and Minnesota outside of the top 10 on the initial rankings.
Another issue for Brando has been the continued high ranking of Alabama. Despite a loss to LSU, the Crimson Tide fell to just No. 5 on last week’s CFP Rankings. Meanwhile, Brando dropped Alabama, who he refers to as one of the “Pure Playoff Privileged,” to No. 7 on his personal top 10.
What makes a team a part of the “Pure Playoff Privileged?” Brando provided a comprehensive breakdown during his interview with Paul Finebaum:
“Teams that are considered blue bloods. Teams that have had success in the last 30, 35, 40 years, multiple conference championships. Teams that come from places where college football is religion, and those are not all in the SEC, by the way,” explained Brando. “Ohio State would fall into that category. Clemson falls into that category, they have become the Pure Playoff Privileged. They don’t have to play anybody and it doesn’t bother anybody. They can be in the No. 3 position and no one asks any questions.
“That’s what we’re talking about. This cobble of teams that have made this event the great Sun Belt Invitational. If I can tell you in July that these are your teams and I’m gonna be right on at least 3 out of the 4 that I name, then we’ve removed all of the joy of the regular season of college football.”
With two weeks to go in the regular season, it will be interesting to see how the race to the CFP shakes out.
