Tim Brando claps back at Kirk Herbstreit over Cincinnati’s Playoff bid
By Rolando Rosa
Published:
Undefeated AAC champion Cincinnati has become the first program from the Group of Five to qualify for the College Football Playoff.
ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit believes this should silence those that have taken issue with perceived Group of Five slights in the past, such as undefeated UCF in 2017.
After SEVEN years of bitching and complaining from a vocal minority that the CFP system is rigged and the “small guy” will NEVER GET A CHANCE-haven’t heard much from ya last couple days.
Everything okay? What’s the next conspiracy theory??
Can’t wait!
Cause that one is history.— Kirk Herbstreit (@KirkHerbstreit) December 7, 2021
However, FOX Sports’ Tim Brando thinks the contrary and took personal offense to Herbstreit’s comments. Brando clapped back on Twitter with a savage reply:
If that’s aimed at me my friend? You’re sadly mistaken. I’m right here! I’m pleased they’re in, but don’t trot out the CFP pablum without thinking you won’t get pushback here.Pretty sure my voice represents a strong number that have been forgotten in CFB’s exclusionary practices!

The Group of Five debate will continue as the CFP committee debates expansion. No. 4 Cincinnati will face No. 1 Alabama on Dec. 31 in the CFP semifinals at the Cotton Bowl (3:30 p.m. EST/ESPN).
