On Sunday night, Adolphus Washington was arrested for improper concealment of a firearm at a Cincinnati waterpark.

Police showed up to clear out a party that had gotten out of hand in the waterpark parking lot.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reported that the former Ohio State and current Buffalo Bills defensive lineman reached for a gun that police were not aware of.

TMZ got footage of the arrest. It turned out that Washington was in a serious situation that almost resulted in him getting shot by police:

As the officer said, 99 percent of the time a suspect reaches for a gun when surrounded by police, he gets shot. Washington said in the video that he realized he was lucky to be alive.

Washington said that he was trying to put his gun, which he had a license for, out of reach when the officers surrounded him.

The Bills haven’t announced whether or not the second-year player will be suspended for his arrest.

Either way, it looks like it could’ve been a whole lot worse for Washington.
