Tom Allen must now shift focus to Nebraska and shutting down Anthony Grant. Grant has been one of the better backs in the B1G this season.

After a tumultuous 2021 season, things were looking up for the Hoosiers.

After a Week 3 win against Western Kentucky, Indiana was already halfway back to bowl eligibility, its biggest goal coming into the season. Then came a hiccup in Week 4 with a loss to Cincinnati, the Hoosiers falling 45-24 to the Bearcats.

Hoosier head coach Tom Allen lamented the need for a stronger defense after the loss to Cincinnati.

“That’s where we’ve got to be great. And if you’re great there and you force field goals or you force stops when they’re critical for us, that’s what I want to get back to.”

Allen again stressed the importance of a good run defense when facing Nebraska on Saturday, especially with the Cornhusker’s talent at the RB position. Speaking to the media on Thursday, Allen discussed the Indiana defense’s next challenge via (247Sports):

We made some improvement, without question, and needed to. We are going to have to have it on full display on Saturday night against a very talented running back we are going to be playing against. We are very impressed with his skill set, his vision and his toughness, his burst, strength, power and speed. He has all those qualities you are looking for in a running back.’
