Indiana may be attempting to get its first win over Michigan in over 30 years without one of their best playmakers on the field.
On Thursday, IU head coach Tom Allen updated the status of injured receiver Whop Philyor, and while his availability is still uncertain right now, it doesn’t sound too promising. Philyor is still in concussion protocol, Allen said in a video captured by Jim Coyle of Indiana Sports Beat.
Philyor left last week’s game against Penn State after taking helmet-to-helmet from two Nittany Lions defenders. There was no penalty for targeting on the play.
Right now, Philyor’s status is unknown for the game. It will continue to be day to day.
Saturday's status for @SuperstarWhop is still up in the air. "He's still in protocol" was the word from Tom Allen today. But he's confident in the receiving Corp as a whole. IU has the best paying game in the B1G. "It's a very good room, it's a deep room right now." #iufb pic.twitter.com/1E4pre8sWT

Philyor has been Indiana’s leading receiver this season, hauling in 61 receptions for 863 yards and three touchdowns. He has three games with over 100 receiving yards this season.
The Hoosiers enter the game 7-3 after a tough loss to Penn State. Indiana has not defeated Michigan since 1987, losing 23 straight games in the series. The Wolverines are 8-2 heading into Bloomington.
