Tom Allen sends message to former Indiana coach Mike DeBord after medical emergency

Long-time B1G Ten coach and offensive coordinator Mike DeBord is in the hospital ICU after suffering a “severe stroke” on Tuesday.
Indiana head coach and former coaching colleague of DeBord in Tom Allen has offered his thoughts and prayers to his good friend and former assistant.

DeBord began his coaching career in 1982. He was a coach at Michigan on three different stints, with his first two as the offensive coordinator. After coaching the Wolverines for a second time, DeBord coached at the professional level with the Seattle Seahawks (2008) and Chicago Bears (2010-2012).
DeBord became an assistant head coach/offensive coordinator/tight ends coach for two seasons at Indiana under the leadership of Allen from 2017 and 2018.
He would go through a short retirement, however, as he became the offensive coordinator for the San Diego Fleet in the AAF League before the league dissolved. In 2020, DeBord became an offensive analyst for Michigan under head coach Jim Harbaugh.
DeBord, 65, was born in Muncie, Indiana.
