Tom Brady often gets labeled as one of the most dislikeable and arrogant players in the NFL, but it was pretty tough to knock the Patriots quarterback after his actions Sunday night.

No, it wasn’t just his effort to lead New England to its third straight Super Bowl appearance, and the ninth time in 18 seasons. It was what Brady did after the game that was an incredible display of class.

According to Jeff Darlington of ESPN, Brady asked a security guard to speak with Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes in private. His request was granted, and the two quarterbacks spoke briefly after the game.

While the nature of the conversation wasn’t mentioned, this was most-likely a show of respect from Brady to Mahomes, who is quickly becoming one of the NFL’s top quarterbacks.

That gesture won’t bring much solace to Chiefs fans, who have waited 50 years to return to a Super Bowl, but it should show just how special of a player Mahomes is becoming. If he’s earning the attention and respect of Brady, that’s a pretty good sign.

New England defeated Kansas City 37-31 in overtime. Brady threw for 348 yards and a touchdown in the win. Mahomes threw for 295 yards and three touchdowns.
