Tom Brady can cross one team off his list of possible destinations for 2023, according to an NFL insider. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Miami Dolphins are not expected to pursue Brady, citing league sources.
Brady, 45, has yet to announce whether he will play in 2023. If he does play, he’s set to become an unrestricted free agent. The New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders have also been mentioned as teams that could land Brady in free agency if he elects to play. Brady turns 46 in August.
The Dolphins were punished for tampering with Brady last year. Ultimately, Brady returned to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Dolphins stuck with Tua Tagovailoa as their starting quarterback. According to ESPN, Miami plans to stick with Tagovailoa, a top-5 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, again for 2023.
Brady, considered by many the NFL’s GOAT, has played 23 seasons professionally. He spent the first 20 seasons of his career with the New England Patriots, signing with the Buccaneers ahead of the 2020 season.
In 2023, Brady started all 17 regular-season games for the Buccaneers, leading them to an 8-9 record. Brady posted career highs of 490 completions on 733 attempts, recording 4,694 passing yards and 25 touchdowns to 9 interceptions. The Bucs’ 2022 campaign ended with a playoff loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Even if Tom Brady were to return for the 2023 season, the Dolphins are not expected to pursue the QB they were linked to last year, per sources. Miami is committed to Tua Tagovailoa.https://t.co/HmPec8z38X
