Tom Herman, FAU hiring Penn State analyst as OC, per report

Tom Herman is back in the head coaching ranks after spending 2022 on the sidelines. Now, the former Houston and Texas head coach and assistant at Ohio State is putting together his coaching staff at FAU.
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, one of those pieces for the Owls is going to come from Penn State. Thamel is reporting that Herman and FAU are hiring Penn State analyst Charlie Frye to be the OC of the Owls.
Sources: FAU is hiring Charlie Frye as the school’s offensive coordinator. Frye is a former NFL quarterback, NFL QB coach and worked at various high schools in Florida. He worked at University if Florida as director of player development.

Frye spent the 2022 season as an analyst for James Franklin but does have experience as a play caller. He served as the OC and QBs coach at Central Michigan from 2019-20 before coaching QBs for the Miami Dolphins in 2021.
