Jaden Akins, sophomore guard, left during Michigan State’s 73-71 win against Villanova with a possible injury to his foot. It was the same foot he recently had surgery on in September which came from a stress reaction that he has rehabbed and recently returned from.
Izzo cont. on Akins: "Of all the kids that I think could handle it, he's smart enough to handle it, he's tough enough to handle it, he's athletic enough to handle it. And the only problem I've had is I think he wants to get it all back in one game."

Initially, Tom Izzo said he did not know what happened but had more to say after speaking to a medical specialist.
“If there’s any question mark, we’re not worried about the 3 games over the 24 that are left,” Izzo said while answering questions about Akins’ availability for the Phil Knight Invitational. “It’s gonna be on how Jaden feels.”
After recent x-rays, Izzo feels that holding Akins out of a few practices is the right decision in the hope that he will play Thursday. He still speculates that Akins will be limited on how much time he actually spends on the court.
Izzo said x-rays were all good. He thinks Akins will play Thursday but not sure how much
