Tom Izzo continues to troll everyone over Michigan State’s potential use of a zone

Death, taxes, Tom Izzo hinting at Michigan State using a zone in the season. But this time, he means it. Or does he?
On Tuesday, Izzo took to a press conference to preview the preseason ahead for Michigan State. And once again, Izzo is reporting that the Spartans are working on a zone defense in practices.
According to Kyle Austin with MLive, Izzo hinted at the move and said he thinks “we’ll play some zone.” Izzo didn’t stop there, going on to say “what a surprise it’ll be” when the Spartans roll out the zone in a game.
Izzo is truly playing the long game with his yearly zone talk:
“Just think what a surprise it’ll be. Nobody’s going to prepare. Even though I’m announcing it, it doesn’t matter. I’ve announced it before.”
(Yes, he’s fully aware that this has become an annual joke)

We’ll see if the Spartans ever go to a zone consistently. For now, it sounds like another pre-planned troll job from Izzo.
