Tom Izzo and Michigan State are inevitable in the month of March.
He earned his 16th career win over a higher-seeded team Sunday, downing 2-seed Marquette to advance to the Sweet 16. That’s the highest mark of any head coach ever and earns him his 15th appearance in the Sweet 16 as MSU’s head coach.
Michigan State has been through a lot this year, on and off the court. The Spartan community was struck by tragedy in February following a shooting on Michigan State’s campus, but the Spartans moved onward and thrived on the court. Now, they’re going to fight for a spot in the Elite 8.
Izzo fought tears while summarizing the Spartans team Sunday. He threw in some jokes about Tyson Walker along the way:

The Spartans will take on Kansas State on Thursday. Times for the heavyweight battle have not yet been released. And with how MSU is playing, don’t count them out any time soon.
