Tom Izzo was able to put his son, Steven, into Wednesday night’s exhibition matchup against Hillsdale in the final minutes.
Izzo has been at Michigan for 4 years, but rarely plays. When he does it’s often in the final minutes of blowouts. He has never scored during a regular season Michigan State game.
His brief stint in last night’s exhibition didn’t start out too well. Izzo airballed a 3-pointer, which prompted a pretty hilarious dumbfounded reaction from Tom Izzo.
But that reaction quickly became emotional as Izzo went to the line for a pair of free throws. He made both of them, and the arena erupted into cheers. Izzo had to cover his face as he was getting emotional.
Sports are just awesome, folks:

The Spartans have a dangerous team this season. Mady Sissoko should be a beast down low, and the Spartans have the guard talent to face off against just about any backcourt in the country.
Michigan State will face off against Tennessee on Sunday in an exhibition format, with ticket proceeds benefitting the victims of the recent Maui fires. Kansas and Illinois will also play Sunday night for the same cause.
Both will be aired on Big Ten Network.
