Tom Izzo and Michigan State, both as a community and basketball team, have been through a lot the past few weeks. The least concern of which is basketball.
Just a week removed from last Sunday’s horrific shooting on the campus of MSU, the Spartans returned to their home court for the first time. In doing so, they picked up perhaps their best win of the season, knocking off No. 17 Indiana in front of a hoard of supportive, emotional fans.
Izzo, who has been with the Michigan State program since 1983, was seen in tears when the final horn sounded.

As he was walking of the court, Izzo caught a few hugs from Alan Haller and Mel Tucker, too:

This is a win the Spartans needed desperately, on and off the court. The Spartans were in the field to begin with, but this resume win over the red-hot Hoosiers essentially solidifies their chances of reaching the big dance barring total collapse.
Michigan State is back in action Saturday against Iowa in Iowa City.
