Juwan Howard had his first taste of the Michigan-Michigan State rivalry as a head coach Sunday with Tom Izzo and the Spartans getting the win.
The game featured the usual rivalry tension with heated emotions, but Michigan State controlled the action for much of the game. Cassius Winston set a new career-high for the Spartans while Xavier Tillman also came up big in the game. The final score finished with Michigan State winning at home 87-69.

After a three-game sweep in 2019 that included a win in the B1G Tournament, Izzo and the Spartans have now won four straight against the Wolverines. After the game, Izzo was complimentary of Howard and said he believes Howard will do a “nice job” in Ann Arbor. However, don’t expect Michigan State to go anywhere anytime soon:
Izzo: "Juwan has done a nice job, he'll do a nice job. But we're not going anywhere."

Going back to the start of the 2014 season, the Spartans have won nine of 14 matchups with the archrival Wolverines. How long will Izzo keep those results rolling?
