Tom Izzo had some unfortunate news about Michigan State guard Jaden Akins after the Alabama game on Thursday per Lansing State Journal’s Graham Couch. Akins recently tweaked the injury to his foot against Villanova.
Akins is not going to be playing in Friday’s game against Oregon, stated Izzo. Akins could potentially play on Sunday, but that will all depend on if he’s able to practice on Friday and Saturday.
While there’s a chance that Akins could return to action soon, Izzo noted that it’s doubtful that the Spartans’ guard plays Sunday in the Notre Dame game.
Tom Izzo after the game said Jaden Akins won’t play Friday night either and won’t play until he can practice two days in row. So if he’s OK to practice Friday (during shoot-around) and Saturday (MSU’s day between games), he could go Sunday. Izzo described the odds as “doubtful.”

Akins has played in four games this season for Michigan State so far. Akins last scored 9 points in the Villanova game on Nov. 18.
If Akins can stay healthy he could be a reliable option for the Spartans in the long run. Stay tuned for more updates about Akins.
