Iowa found itself in a slugfest Saturday with South Dakota State where the Hawkeyes won the game 7-3. Those 7 points came from a field goal and 2 safeties. Tory Taylor the punter for Iowa also had himself a day.
Taylor had punts downed at the 1, 2, 6, 8, 8 and 12-yard line according to Sean Bock of 247sports who covers the Hawkeyes. Bock pointed out that Taylor had 479 total punt yards which were 193 more yards than Iowa and SDSU’s offenses combined.

The Jackrabbits’ head coach was extremely impressed with the Hawkeye punter. John Stiegelmeier called Taylor “a freak” after the game.

The Hawkeye faithful might be a little worried about how the offense will play moving forward but having a weapon on special teams in the punt game will help win games in the B1G West where it seems field position and grinding out the clock reigns supreme.
