Touching gesture: Maryland gives sendoff to campus healthcare workers before B1G Tournament

Maryland basketball is heading to Indianapolis for the Big Ten Tournament, but the Terps didn’t forget about who they’re leaving behind.
On Wednesday morning, Maryland coach Mark Turgeon made a nice gesture toward a special group of people: the healthcare workers who have spent the last few months administering COVID-19 tests on the Terps.
“We just wanted to say thank you to everybody,” Turgeon said. “You guys have been spectacular … Working around our schedules this year, so our guys could sleep in or whatever we had to do. I know we’re going to see you again, but to us this is kind of the end. We’re going to Indianapolis and we’re not coming back.
“We appreciate you learning our players’ names and just being apart of their life.”
Turgeon then said the program would be providing a meal later that day and they’d also be receiving Maryland basketball gear.

Maryland faces Michigan State on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. ET.
