Tournament ticket punched? Rutgers outlasts Penn State in regular-season finale

It wasn’t pretty, but Rutgers got the win it needed on Sunday. The Scarlet Knights outlasted Penn State 59-58 in the 2021-22 regular-season finale.
Rutgers had a 15-point lead in the second half (46-31,11:39), but the Nittany Lions refused to go away. It all came down to the final possession.

Ron Harper Jr. led the way for Rutgers with 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor. Penn State’s Set Lundy led all scorers with 17 points, making 7-of-13 field goals.
ESPN Bracketologis Joe Lunardi had Rutgers as one of the “Last Four In” entering Sunday’s game. Andy Katz says Sunday’s win should clinch the Scarlet Knights’ spot in the NCAA Tournament.

Rutgers finishes the season 18-12 overall and 12-8 in B1G play.
