Only two quarterbacks had hit the mark in Penn State’s football history. In the B1G Championship, sophomore Trace Mcsorley became the third.

The 3,000-yard club added its newest member on Saturday night, when McSorley found Mike Gesicki for a 33-yard TD pass in the first quarter, adding his name to an elite chapter of Nittany Lions football history.

Coming into the game McSorley ranked fourth in Penn State’s single-season passing category with 2,976. He was just one yard behind his predecessor Christian Hackenberg. Surpassing the 3,000-yard mark puts him in the company of Matt McGloin and Daryll Clark. According to Penn State’s Twitter account, he now holds the school’s record in passing yards for a sophomore.

It’s been a big season for McSorley, who also set Penn State’s single-season record for total yardage this year, racking up 3,348 yards in the 12 regular season games.

Will the sophomore break any other records this season?
