Trace McSorley has already rewritten the Penn State record book. Over the last three seasons, the star quarterback has been the heart and soul of the Nittany Lions offense.

He’s eclipsed incredible milestones, both as a passer and as a rusher. He’s led numerous game-winning drives and he’s led his team to major victories over the course of his career.

After Penn State’s win over Iowa on Saturday evening, he’s closing in on another program record.

McSorley is now third all-time in wins as a starting quarterback at Penn State, earning victory No. 28 this weekend. He broke the tie with Chuck Fusina (1975-1978) and is now one win behind tying Todd Blackledge (1980-1982) and Tony Sacca (1988-1991). Both won 29 career games.

The information comes from Kris Peterson, the sports information director of Penn State football.

There’s an excellent chance McSorley stands alone atop the record book by the end of the season. The Nittany Lions have four games remaining on the schedule.

Penn State has two tough outings, traveling to No. 5 Michigan and hosting No. 20 Wisconsin before taking on Maryland and Rutgers in the final two weeks of the season. It may not come until the final weeks of the season, but it would be a huge surprise if McSorley didn’t reach win No. 30 by the end of the year.

McSorley’s incredible record-setting career is just further proof that he’s one of the best players in college football.
