Northwestern’s Kyric McGowan has announced he is entering the NCAA transfer portal as a graduate transfer. The news was broken by Rivals.com on Monday afternoon.

McGowan joins a growing list of college football players who have already entered their name in the NCAA transfer portal this year.

The senior wide receiver was one of the most versatile players on the Wildcats roster in 2020, leading the team with 667 all-purpose yards. He notched one rushing touchdown, taking snaps at both wide receiver and running back, and contributing on special teams as the NU primary kick returner.

Northwestern will play Auburn in the Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1, 2021 in Orlando, Fla.

The offseason is sure to be a wild one, with roster sizes bloated due to the extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA, as well as players not having to sit out a year before playing at their new school.

Reports are that since November there have been 532 active names added to the transfer portal. The numbers equate to every FBS team having to take four transfers each for all the players currently in the FBS to remain.
