A Minnesota wide receiver has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.
Per Andy Greder of the Pioneer Press, walk-on receiver True Thompson has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal and will explore his options outside the Twin Cities. He is the son of Darrell Thompson, who is a Gophers running back legend.
Thompson entered the portal a month after the 2020 season came to an end for Minnesota. The Golden Gophers finished the season with a 3-4 record.

Thompson spent two seasons at Iowa Western Community College before transferring to Minnesota. He appeared in 10 games at that level and made 4 catches for 65 yards. He has been at Minnesota since the 2018 season but has not seen any game action in three years.
In 2020, Thompson was an Academic All-B1G player.
Thompson was a redshirt senior in 2020. Because of the NCAA’s blanket waiver for all student-athletes for the 2020 season, Thompson will have one year of eligibility left.
