Travis Vokolek grabbed the second TD of his Nebraska career, while also helping the Huskers grab the lead for the first time in Week 9.

Vokolek, weaving his way between two defenders, caught the ball at the 37-yard line before heading straight up the sideline for a 56-yard TD. The TD put the Illini up 9-6, their first lead of the day against No. 17 Illinois.

Vokolek had a 7-yard touchdown pass against the Scarlet Knights last Saturday, the first for the senior TE. In Week 1, Vokolek was a heavy target of starting quarterback Casey Thompson, finishing with 5 catches for 63 yards before suffering an ankle injury.

The last two contests between the Illini and Huskers resulted in Nebraska wins. The Cornhuskers are 7.5 underdogs against the Illini on Saturday.

After Vokolek’s touchdown, Nebraska has since surrendered 14 unanswered points entering the break. The status of Casey Thompson is also up in the air after he headed to the locker room with an injury.
